Our Celebrity this week is Dania Denise Top Model from the United State of America She shares with Schoolboy her Experiences so far in the Industry. Enjoy!
Let us meet you?
Hello! My name
is Dania Denise and I am a professional model from California in the United
States.
Educational Background?
I have a B.A. in
Radio/TV with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Journalism
from San Francisco State University.
What led you into Modeling?
I received a
flyer in the mail for a casting call in San Francisco when I was 15. It seemed
like something fun to try at the time so my parents took me, I submitted a
snapshot, got called back a few days later for an interview and signed with my
first talent agency shortly afterwards.
How long have you been Modeling now?
I’ve been
modeling professionally for over 13 years and I love it now more than ever!
What have been your Challenges so far?
So far the
biggest and most common challenge has always been my height. I am much shorter
than the agency standard for fashion and runway modeling so I am automatically
not eligible for a large number of modeling opportunities. If I was able to
access those opportunities, I’m confident that my career would be even more
successful and I would be better known in the industry. Unfortunately, the
modeling world is still not very accepting of shorter models doing the same
type of work as the taller, traditional fashion models.
How has it been working with other Models?
I love working
with other models. Everyone’s personality is so different and it’s nice to meet
people from all walks of life. I keep in touch with many models I’ve worked
with in the past and they’ve grown to become very good friends.
What’s your area of Specialization in Modeling?
I mainly
specialize in commercial/print, catalog, lifestyle, bridal and beauty modeling.
Are you married?
I am not married
but I am in a committed relationship with a very supportive boyfriend.
Any plans for marriage?
Right now
marriage is not on my list of priorities. I have way too much going on in my
life right now to try and focus on that at this time.
How do you cope with your Male fans?
It’s very
flattering to have male fans and I get many sweet messages and emails from
them. Thankfully they are respectful in their comments and approaches to me. For
the few that are too aggressive or even disrespectful about it, I kindly
explain to them that I am a lady and they need to address me as such and if
they can’t respect me and my relationship, then it is best if they don’t
contact me. But so far I haven’t had any major problems from male fans.
How do you unwind?
I am very much a
homebody. I enjoy watching movies at home instead of going to the theater or
settling down with a good book. I’m always on the go and around many people so
I feel most comfortable at home where I have my personal space. It may sound
silly but I find it very therapeutic to clean…I’m a neat freak so when I know
my house is clean, I can breathe easier, haha.
What are your Hobbies?
I love to read,
play video games, catch up on my favorite TV shows and cook (I have a great
fondness for baking cupcakes!).
What’s your Favorite Color and why?
I’ve always
loved the color silver. It’s a color that is very sleek, clean and edgy to me.
What are your Likes & Dislikes?
Likes: food
(Japanese, Filipino, Chinese), animals, cartoons, video games,
cars/motorcycles, football, hot weather
Dislikes:
mean/rude people, spiders, clowns, cold weather/snow
What are you working on presently?
I was just asked
to become a regular video blogger for the online modeling community, The
Network, which was founded by modeling agent guru, Paul Fisher. I am hoping
that my association with the site and the education/advice I provide to other
models through the video blogs will increase my online exposure and lead to
networking opportunities that can further boost my career, resume and
credibility.
What should we be expecting from you in the nearest future?
You can
definitely expect to become more familiar with my name and face, as I work
towards being hired to represent well known brands/clients not just
locally/nationally but eventually internationally as well.
What do you have to say to upcoming models?
Do your homework
and learn about the modeling industry. It is not what it appears to be and is
not for everyone. Stay true to yourself and work with what you have, instead of
wishing for what you don’t.
Your last message for your fans
I am successful not just because of my own efforts but
because of the amazing support system I have—not just from my friends and
family but those that have never met me in person. I want to say “thank you” to
all those that have been so wonderful to me in my career and continue to root
for me. I don’t consider myself “famous” so the fact that I have “fans” is so
amazing to me!
Also, I wanted to share my favorite quote: It is better to be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of somebody else. That is a quote I’ve come to live by and should be something everyone takes to heart, no matter what goals or path they choose to follow in life.
Thanks for your time. We wish you the very best in your Career.
